This tiny house in Mexico employed folding doors with operable louvers of regional cedarwood to allow the occupants to control their level of contact between the interior and the exterior. It spans just two floors and 452 square feet. The Monte House is a tiny house in Mexico whose objective was to achieve a reflective and contemplative place that links the occupant with the surrounding wild landscape.
In order to create a small yet comfortable vacation home for young couples, the multidisciplinary workshop TACO, or Taller de Arquitectura Contextual, sited it in the corner of a two-acre lot, then employed built-in elements for an “intuitive” interior layout.
This is how the house was designed and made possible by TACO.
First of all, the small home was built on a platform. The architects wanted it to be raised off the ground to discourage wild animals from entering.

Moreover, the house includes a pool that seamlessly joins with the rear terrace.

The geometric wall on one side acts as a screen to protect the structure from winds and noise.

The condensed, double-height footprint fits a combination living/dining/kitchen area on the main floor and a bedroom on the mezzanine.

The compact kitchenette appears as a piece for instance. All thanks to a continuous counter that hosts the sink, cooktop, and fridge.

The warm wood furnishings stand out against the sculptural staircase, which references the form of the wall outside.

Even more, a large second-floor window was placed over the bed. Therefore, gives a wider view of nature once opened.

The back of the house opens to the pool and landscape. You will certainly appreciate the view from the bed on the mezzanine.

This created an opportunity to remove the ceiling in the shower to let the owners bathe outdoors in privacy.
The mezzanine has a bathroom, storage closet, and exterior staircase.

The front view gives an intuitive, functional, and simple experience of living, but certainly with great spatial warmth.

Above all, the firm left the landscape largely in its natural state.
