Just TOO beautyful to be true!
I love it! And I love Scotland!! Been to the Isle of Skye before too. I wish there was a picture of the bathroom. If this were mine I would finish the walls so they didn’t look like particle board and make the beam in the living room thick and with dark wood so it looked more homey and a bit less contemporary. That is me though! I LOVE seeing smaller homes. The tiny ones are fun, but realistically, I would want a home 500-1000 sq feet so I like seeing more of those.
I would it without all the steps.Maybe escalators.
The build of this house was featured in one of the episodes of CH4 Grand Designs. It’s rally nice although it’s built to a tight budget. I find disappointing that none of the pictures show the artists studio in a separate building.
Although this is not a very big house I would not describe it as tiny (about 100 m2 if memory serves correctly) so I’m surprised to see it here.
Actually, the house on Grand Designs was not this one. Similar, but not the same.
I’m torn with this being an ecohouse with OSB cladding the walls. First the wood has to be chipped (using energy), then adhered together, using additional materials which could out gas. Then along the stair there’s a wall that could be rails using less material and allowing ambient light for safety.
I know all building materials have costs and trade-offs economically and environmentally, but this one has me scratching my head.
I think it’s beautiful, and unique! Enjoy!
Love it – would love to live in it !
I, too, wondered about the particleboard, but it doesn’t look bad. I think I would paint it. Otherwise, a lovely house, simple and well laid out, with lots of light. I like the staircase. Would also have liked a shot of the bathroom.
I wonder if having the fire backing onto the window reduces heat efficiency? Also would have been nice to have the foot of the bed facing the window so you could look out at the beautiful view. But very pretty!
