A modern home extension built above a garage in Mill Valley, California serves as a treehouse, with framed views to the spectacular forest of Redwoods.
Lars Langberg Architects designed the structure which contrasted with the adjacent mid-century private residence.
Lars Langberg Architects was founded in Sonoma County by Lars in 2003 after he relocated with his family from San Francisco. The storefront office was established in Sebastopol five years later, and the firm just celebrated 10 years in the center of the bustling west county town.
As the business grew and opportunities expanded, the second location in Denver, Colorado was added in 2017.

This Home/Treehouse Extension Shouts Elegance On The Inside.
This modern home extension is spacious. With the big glass windows that give natural day light, it certainly makes a good spot to unwind and enjoy nature’s bliss.

The bar counter servers as division between the small kitchen sink and the living area.

A small office is adjacent to the bar counter. It comes with a long table and storage cabinets.

The kitchen counter is painted all white. There are cabinets for storing kitchen utensils and a wooden rack for the glasses.

Absolutely, the house looks stunning during the night. The lights emphasize the beauty of this extension/treehouse.

The family reflected in their childhood memories of a treehouse and conceived this extension. They’ve chosen warm cedar siding and weathered steel to reflect the surrounding redwood trees.
