So interesting. Would like to read/see more videos about this experience. What about food and supplies? Did you bring most with you or fish, or….? Were you in communication with the outside via radio/cell or other means? Looks like you have a wood stove – did you have any trouble finding enough fuel in that high location? Did you worry about the possibility of being buried by heavy snowfall or avalanches in this location?
Thanks for the post.
There’s a really rad documentary about their experience building the cabin and living the arctic beach life, it was part of the Banff film festival and totally stole the show.
Looks a bit stuffy in there. I hope neither occupant farted.
I “get it” and I’m not going to take ANY of their joy away from them! They’re young, have no responsibilities, asked no one for money and now they can cross this off of their bucket list. And then bore then grandchildren to death about the retelling of this story in another 50 years. LOL
Good job, guys. A truly once in a life time experience.
Too late. Already stole the joy with the young / no responsibilities comment.
The documentary is well worth the purchase. I saw it at a film geek friend’s house, and was blown away by the levity these guys exhibited while undergoing such harsh survival challenges. Makes me want to follow suit, and do something amazing! One interesting thing is that they seem to get a lot of leaking, which is unfortunate. They compare themselves aptly with shipwrecked sailors once, which got me thinking: Could they have stopped the leakage with shipbuilding techniques? Surely a source of rope and tar or similar malleable material (melted bouy foam?) to make oakum wouldn’t be too far from a trash-strewn beach… What do you guys think?
