Rose Bud: The Gorgeous Luxury Rustic Tiny House That Proves Less Is More

Move over, McMansions. Rustic tiny houses are taking the world by storm and for good reason! These gorgeous homes offer all of the luxuries of a traditional home while occupying a fraction of the space. Rose Bud is one such example – this luxurious rustic tiny house proves that you don’t need a lot of square footage to live in style. If you’re considering downsizing, or just want to see what all the fuss is about, then be sure to check out this incredible little house!

“Rose Bud” is the name which the person who commissioned this stunning tiny house by Elite Tiny Homes chose to give her new abode.

Have you ever seen Citizen Kane? If so, you surely remember the last word of its main character Charlie Kane: “Rosebud.” The word referred to the name of a sled he had as a child. During his adult years, he lived in a grandiose mansion, but the acquisition of wealth, power, and influence never actually made him happy. It was the simplicity of childhood and its joys that mattered in the end, a realization that came too late.

Is the name she chose an allusion to Charlie Kane’s sled? Maybe, maybe not. While I have no idea, it would not be a bad choice at all of it is. This Rose Bud is about as far removed as possible from the ostentation of the mansion in Citizen Kane, yet it is luxurious in its own right. It is an embodiment of simplicity, a beautiful and elegant ode to the idea that less is more.

We spend so much of our lives chasing after “more,” and not thinking about what we are giving up along the way. The tiny house movement is a great reminder that we don’t always need “more” to be happy.

Rose Bud measures 32’ long and 12’ wide. With the 11’ x 13’ loft taken into account, it provides a little more than 500 square feet of living space. New growth cypress was used for the exterior siding.

Wow, right? This living space is a work of art! Note the beautiful light fixture made of wrought iron (?), and the live edge trim around the windows. On the left is a set of carved wooden doors. They are just fantastically beautiful. Alas, the builder did not say where they came from or who crafted them.

Here is another fine and unique bit of craftsmanship—the mirror in the bathroom. The frame is live edge wood that has been polished until it shines. Also, you can see a few outlets in this photo. Even they are artistically designed.

The flush toilet is in its own little compartment in the bathroom. Above it are a couple of live edge shelves. I am not sure whether there is a screen or something that can be pulled over the opening for privacy or not.

Stepping back from the toilet, you find yourself in the main section of the washroom. On the left is a beautiful claw foot tub measuring 5’. There is a track for hanging a shower curtain as well.

The central feature is, however, the sinker cypress burl sink. It is arguably the most artistic and unique bathroom sink I have ever seen. Its smooth organic curves make it almost seem as if it is alive.

I’m not sure if this is part of the main living space or if it is a downstairs bedroom. Regardless, it would be up to the owner to decide how best to use it.

Stunning Kitchen Counter

The kitchen counter has a stunning live edge, and below, a beautiful chevron pattern. Other features include a large farmhouse sink, a dishwasher, and a fridge and freezer. It is unclear whether there is a stove or not, but there does not appear to be. But there is plenty of counter space to plug in a cooktop. Also, do not neglect the detail of the super cool light fixture suspended above. It appears to be a polished tree stump.
