The Nature Lovers Retreat is a tiny cottage in the Asheville area in North Carolina. Surrounded by beautiful foliage, this secluded cottage has been aptly named. Describing its location, the owners write that is, “The best of both worlds! Quiet, secluded country cottage only six minutes from downtown Asheville.”
The house features a large porch so that you can enjoy the seclusion of nature. Sitting on the porch, you might spy raccoons, foxes, squirrels, chipmunks, woodchucks, opossums, or even coyotes. There are also more than 20 bird species inhabiting the zone directly around the house.
Colorful Interior Makes The House Inviting
What jumps out instantly about this tiny cottage aside from its wooded location are the bright, inviting colors in the interior. There is a large sitting area where you can relax during your stay.
To clarify, “This private apartment is the ground floor of our cozy gated home at the end of one lane gravel road. We live in the little house in the backyard. In front of our house is the Crown Plaza golf course and mountain bike trail.”
So, you will not have the whole house to yourself—just the private apartment. Thus, it might be more apt to say that this is a listing for a “tiny apartment.”
The lovely hardwood floors you see here are made out of antique reclaimed heart pine. The bedroom, like the living room, features sunny yellow walls and cheerful colors in the décor. Potted plants throughout the interior emphasize the “Nature Lovers Retreat” theme.
The bright colors give you good vibes in every room. They are at once energizing and relaxing.
In the kitchen, you have a stovetop with four burners, an oven, a microwave, and a fridge. A blender and toaster are also included for your convenience as well as a coffee maker. That way, if you choose to cook on your vacation and save your leftovers, you have all that you need at your disposal. I recommend it if you have never tried cooking in a tiny kitchen—I think you’ll be surprised at how little counter space you actually need to make most meals.
You can dine indoors at the kitchen table. As is common in tiny house design, the kitchen and living room share the same space.
It looks like dishes and cutlery are provided for you in the kitchen as well.
Bathroom & Patio At The Nature Lovers Retreat Is Incredible
The owners write that the big bathroom with the custom-tiled shower is their favorite feature, and we bet that is true for a lot of guests as well. When you arrive, you will find that shampoo, shower gel and conditioner are already waiting for you in the bathroom along with towels, linens, an iron, an ironing board, and a hair dryer. The floor of the bathroom is heated to keep your feet warm on cold days.
With high-speed wifi available, you can set up your laptop to catch up on your e-mails while you are enjoying your stay. As there is no television available, you definitely will want to make sure you have your computer with you so that you can stream.

The owners write, ” Our house is only 45 minutes away from the Cataloochee valley in the Smoky Mountains National Park. The valley is known for its elk and black bear population. The east side of the Smokies is great as it is less touristy than further west. It is a great place for a day trip!”
