Leave the stress at the door upon arrival at Trawscwm Treehouse at Squirrel’s Nest, which sits among its own private slice of the Welsh countryside in Powys. This treehouse is nestled away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allows guests to unwind in the peace and tranquility of nature.

After wandering along the path and up the wooden stairs, those staying are greeted by the beautiful balcony and terrace on stilts. The large wooden deck surrounding the Trawscwm treehouse, which wraps around the trunk of the tree, offers guests the chance to lounge in the sun or take a dip in the hot tub.

Heading through the front door leads into a creatively designed open-plan space, with the wooden floors, walls, and vaulted ceiling interspersed by light flooding in through large windows.

There are also plenty of tasteful splashes of color cleverly dotted throughout.

The property has a fully equipped, modern kitchen with a breakfast bar, lounge space, and French doors stepping out onto the terrace.

Tucked away in the corner is the bedroom area with a king-size bed. A ladder, which slots out of the way when required, is brought down to reveal the mezzanine level and further single beds suitable for 2 children.

Further French doors lead to the bathroom, which has a stylish copper and tiled design. Here there is a shower cubicle, bath, and toilet.

Suspended between the stilts underneath the treehouse is a hammock where guests can while away the time with a book, while a small bridge across the stream leads to chiminea with further seating – perfect for an evening drink while watching the sunset.

Trawscwm Treehouse is on a Site Of Special Scientific Interest, with red kites and cuckoos native to the area. A short walk up to the hill at Squirrel’s Nest offers amazing views of the surrounding countryside and is also the ideal spot for a picnic. Guests can enhance their relaxation further by arranging for a local masseuse to come and visit. The site is also on the doorstep of Elan Valley, with many hiking and bike trails to explore, or alternatively make the 4 mile trip to the nearest pub in Llanbister.
