Zack and Annie Schoolie is a school bus conversion made possible by the techy couple. The couple that was living in Arkansas dreamed of living a life that allowed them to travel the country instead of spending most days at a desk from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. After securing jobs that allowed them to work remotely, the couple started doing research about converting school buses into tiny houses and decided that was the best plan for them. After finding a 2001 Thomas HDX school bus, they got to work and transformed the space into a modern and comfortable home.

By doing most of the construction themselves, they were able to save tons of money and make the home exactly what they wanted. The surfaces were painted white and dark wood lined the surfaces including the floors.

Lola sleeps in a comfy bed next to the couch which also serves as a standing desk for the owners.

The couch is completely custom with thick padded cushions and tons of clever storage hidden in the frame including cup holders, compartments for controllers and cords, and storage space.

The kitchen is across from the couch and features white cabinets, a deep sink, a stove/oven combo, and a chest freezer hidden in the corner cabinet.

The freezer was chosen over a bulky refrigerator and makes use of what would otherwise have been a wasted space in the corner of the kitchen.

The bathroom is next to the kitchen and has storage built into the door, a composting toilet, and a shower stall.

The sleeping area is in the back of the Zack and Annie schoolie where a king-sized bed is set up with windows surrounding the mattress.

What the couple has really loved about their new life is the community they’ve found while traveling. There’s a whole group of travelers called “Schoolies” that have converted buses into tiny houses so they often meet up with them to swap tips and stories.
