I’ve really enjoyed looking at many of the houses you have shared and found a lot of them had helpful ideas as I designed my own. Now I live in my own and thought you might enjoy photos of it as well.
A tiny house on wheels in Jackson, Wyoming. Shared and owned by Ariel McGlothin.
Wonderful photos of an ideal tiny house! I love the stairs/storage, and the kitchen is terrific. I like that you have both range and oven. So many tiny houses have a couple of burners, or a toaster oven or microwave – limiting one’s ability to roast, bake, and broil in my opinion.
Questions:
Assuming that’s a propane oven/range and fridge, how long does one of those canisters last e.g in hours? If you have a turkey baking for 4 hours is that the end of the gas or what? Is monoxide poisoning ever an issue with propane-powered appliances?
Does propane also power the heat? I note electric outlets and lights, as well as a thermostat and heat vent at the base of the stairs.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous space.
Thank you! I do use my kitchen heavily and on a daily basis. And I love my oven. It’s compact, but I can still get a 20+ pound turkey in their in my biggest roast pan.
The oven/range is propane, but my fridge is electric. The heating is propane as well though it requires electricity to run the fan. I started with two 30 pound propane tanks and even the week it dropped well into the -20’s here, one tank would supply all the cooking and heating propane for almost a week. In warmer weather, they last much longer. I have since added a 100 pound tank as well just to save myself from needing to fill one tank or the other every week.
Check out my house’s blog (fynyth.blogspot.com) for lots more photos and info and if you have any other questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.
LOVE the layout, especially the stairs and the kitchen! was wondering the dimensions?
Dimensions of the kitchen or the house? The exterior of the house is 24′ x 7.5′.
It is so beautiful! Can I get info on who built it?
I love it!
Sure! Tumbleweed built it for me. Check out http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com. I picked one of their plans and then modified it with multiple customizations to get a house that I think will work perfectly for me.
I love it.
I LOVE this house! For being a tiny house, it’s very spacious. The layout is wonderful and I especially love the clever storage steps, the lofts and the fact that you use “real size” furnishings, ie. the recliner and full sz. fridge. You don’t see a recliner in every tiny house! So well done, I love it! Enjoy your space!
Nice, i like it. Very impressed with the steps to loft and also storage. What the brand of toilet you used and are you please with it?
What the plus and minus with it. One day i hope to own a tiny home. Thank you for sharing yours
I have a Nature’s Head. And so far at least, I like it. I have a whole post about it if you want more info: http://fynyth.blogspot.com/2015/01/fy-nyths-composting-toilet.html And thank you and good luck with planning your own!
Wow, looks nice….a rather practical question: How much does it cost to build/buy it?
There is a “FAQS” website about to launch that will address questions such as this. Be sure you are signed up for the Tiny House Newsletter and the Tiny House Blog so when it does launch, you will be notified.
A short answer is: It depends upon the materials you choose to use (recycled or brand new), how many appliances you put in (dishwasher/no dishwasher) and the labor (Do-It-Yourself or have it built by a Tiny House builder; of which there are many, also found in the newsletter and on the blog.)
